Close a job
Updated
close role, stop applications, filled, take down job, expire, delete jobThis is for recruiters who have filled a role or no longer want applications for it.
Open the role
Select Jobs in the sidebar, then select the live role.
Choose Close role
Select Close role at the top of the role page.
Confirm
Select Close role in the dialog.
Decide whether to keep applicants
If Orbit asks Keep some applicants in My candidates?, tick the people you want to keep and select Save selected, or select Skip. Orbit emails each person you select to ask if you can keep their CV.
I don't see Close role
Only a live role can be closed. A draft is never visible to candidates, and an expired role has already stopped on its own.
What happens when you close a role
- The role stops accepting new applications and drops off every channel, including the job board feed.
- Existing applications and matches stay readable. Applicants’ CVs stay readable for 90 more days.
- Closed roles stay in your list with every application intact.
- If the ad was managed, its slot goes back to your plan.
Expired roles
If you set an end date when publishing, the role moves to Expired on its own when that date passes. An expired role behaves like a closed one. To keep a live role going for longer, change its End date on The ad tab and select Save changes before it expires.
Hiring for the same role again
Orbit has no button to reopen a closed role. To hire for it again, select New role on Jobs, choose Reuse a previous role and pick the closed role. The copy is independent, so editing it never changes the old one.
Closing is not deleting
Deleting a role removes it with its matches and applications, and can’t be undone. To delete, open the role’s Settings tab and select Delete role. In most cases, close the role instead.
