Post a job

Updated

This is for recruiters posting a new role. Whichever way you start, you end up in the same editor, and publishing the ad is always free.

Open Jobs

Select Jobs in the sidebar.

Start a new role

Select New role.

Choose how to start

Select one of the three options:

  • Paste what you have: paste text, upload a PDF or DOCX, or give the URL of an existing job posting.
  • Let us interview you: answer short questions, skipping any you like, and the ad builds as you go.
  • Reuse a previous role: start from one of your own previous jobs, closed ones included.

Add the role's content

Follow the screens for the option you chose. For Paste what you have, add your description and select Paste a sample and extract, check what Orbit read, then select Looks right — open the editor.

Check the ad in the editor

Review Title, Category and Description, which are the only required fields. Add skills, salary range, location, remote policy and benefits if you have them. Your changes save automatically.

Preview the ad

Select Preview to see exactly what a candidate will see.

Go to publishing

Select Publish….

Choose how long it stays live

Under How long it stays live, choose 30 days, 60 days, 90 days or No expiry.

Publish the role

Select Publish this role.

Publish this role is not available

Add a title, a category and a description first. If Orbit asks for a company address, choose one. If you aren’t an admin, an account admin needs to choose the company address before you can publish.

Orbit couldn't read my file or URL

Orbit shows the error and gives you your text back. Paste the description into the text box instead and try again.

I can't create or publish roles

Viewers can read roles and candidates but can’t change or publish anything. Ask an account admin to change your role.

Drafts

Orbit saves your draft as you work. Drafts are never published and never visible to candidates. When you select New role again, Orbit offers to Resume your draft or Discard it.

Edit a live role

Open the role from Jobs and select The ad tab. Make your changes and select Save changes. Because people are applying against the published words, wording changes wait until you select Publish these changes. The end date and match limit apply as soon as you save.

What publishing does

Publishing gives the role its own public address under your company address, puts the ad live and makes it eligible for Google Jobs. Every applicant applies with a Virtual CV and appears in your list. See Where your job appears for every place the role goes.

To rank applicants, match your candidate pool and send screenings, manage the ad. See Managed and unmanaged job ads.
