Virtual CV plans and pricing
Updated
price, cost, credits, top up, buy credits, subscription, free, refundThis explains how paying for Virtual CV works: what credits are, what each package costs, what uses credits and what’s free. It starts with how to buy credits.
Open Add credits
In the credits card at the bottom of the sidebar, select Top up.
Choose a package
Select the package you want.
Continue
Select Continue. The button shows the price.
Choose how to pay
Select a saved card, or select Add a new card and enter your card details.
Pay
Select Pay. The button shows the price. If you’re adding a new card, the button says Continue to payment instead.
Close the window
When you see Payment Successful!, select Done. The credits are already in your balance.
I have a discount code
Before you continue, select Have a discount code?, enter the code and select Apply. A code only works on the packages and currency it was made for.
It says Payment received, not Payment Successful
Your bank is still confirming the payment. The credits appear as soon as it clears, usually within a few minutes. You don’t need to do anything else.
How it works
Virtual CV is pay as you go. There is no subscription and no monthly fee. You buy a credit package once, the credits go into your balance, and AI features take credits from it as you use them.
Your balance is shown in the credits card at the bottom of the sidebar.
Free credits when you sign up
New accounts start with 500 free credits.
Credit packages
| Package | Credits | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Micro Package | 500 | 2.99 |
| Starter Package | 2,000 | 7.99 |
| Creator Package | 10,000 | 24.99 |
| Pro Package | 50,000 | 74.99 |
Prices are in your account’s currency, Australian dollars (AUD) or US dollars (USD), and the number is the same in both. Your currency is set when your account is created. See GST and currency.
GST
Prices include GST. If you’re in Australia, the price you see is what you pay, and packages show incl. GST. If you’re outside Australia, you pay the same price and no GST is charged. Your invoices show what you were charged: see Download invoices and receipts.
What’s free
These never use credits:
- Building and editing your CV by hand, including Start from blank
- Choosing a template and accent colour
- Going live, sharing your link and creating share links
- Recording, uploading and attaching video introductions
- Verifying a certification with Credly or Microsoft Learn
- Receiving job matches on your live CVs, and applying to jobs
- Taking a screening an employer sends you
What uses credits
AI features use credits. Most are charged by how much work the AI does, so the same action can cost a little more or less each time. Typical costs per action:
| Action | Typical credits |
|---|---|
| Importing an existing CV (Upload PDF) | 200 to 230 |
| AI writing help, such as improving a description | 46 to 54 |
| A CV check (strength, ATS or quality) | 58 to 121 |
| Writing or rewriting a cover letter | 46 to 52 |
| Generating a PDF of your CV | about 43 |
| Tailoring a copy of your CV to a job | 90 to 100 |
| Unlocking a sealed job match | 49 to 55 |
Other actions that use credits:
- Interactive CV building, and getting AI insights on a job match
- Asking for job matching to run on demand. Automatic matching is free.
Two actions have a fixed price:
| Action | Credits |
|---|---|
| Identity verification, per attempt | 20 |
| Work-email verification, per code sent | 20 |
Minimum balances
Interactive CV building needs a balance of at least 2,000 credits before it starts.
An AI action can take your balance slightly below zero. While your balance is below zero, AI features are blocked until you add credits.
Automatic top-up and balance alerts
To never run out mid-task, turn on automatic top-up. Go to Settings, then Billing. Under Automatic top-up, choose the balance that triggers a top-up and the package to buy. You need a saved card first. In the same place, under Alerts, you can ask to be emailed when your balance drops below an amount you choose.
Billing is in the Account group of Settings, which only account admins see.
Seeing what you spent
In Settings, Usage & History lists every charge and top-up. It’s in the Account group too.
Refunds and expiry
Credits aren’t refundable, except where the law requires it. When a cover letter can’t be written, or an identity check fails because of a problem on our side, the credits for that attempt are returned automatically. Credits have no cash value and can’t be transferred. Unused credits may expire if your account is closed, or inactive for a long time and we’ve told you first. See the Terms of Service, section 5.
Earning credits instead
You can also earn credits by inviting friends. See Invite friends and earn credits.
