Control what's public on your CV
Updated
hide phone number, hide email, contact details, privacy, hide section, visibility, public viewThis is for deciding what people see when they open your CV’s link. Hiding something here only affects the public page. It stays in your CV and in your PDF downloads.
Open the CV in the builder
In the sidebar, select My Virtual CVs, then select Edit on the CV.
Open Public settings
At the top of the builder, select Public settings.
Find What recruiters can see
Scroll to What recruiters can see. It lists every part of your CV with a switch, and shows how many are on.
Turn off what you want to hide
Turn off the switch next to each part you want to keep off your public page. Changes save automatically.
I can't find a switch for my email or phone
Contact details don’t have their own switch. See Hiding your contact details below.
What you can hide
- Video intro
- Name, title, photo. This also covers your contact details and introduction.
- Each section: Experience, Education, Skills, Languages, Projects, Awards, Interests, References and Social media
- “Request an interview” button, which lets a recruiter contact you without an account
- “Download CV” button, which lets visitors download your PDF
You can also hide a single section from the Sections list in the builder: open its menu and select Hide from public.
Hiding your contact details
Your public CV shows your email, phone, location and right to work, as long as Name, title, photo is on. You have two options:
- Remove them from the CV. In the builder, select Contact details and clear the fields you don’t want to share. They also disappear from your PDF.
- Hide the whole header. Turn off Name, title, photo. This hides your name, title, photo, contact details and introduction from the public page together.
To hide more from one particular person, give them their own share link that shows less than your public page. See Create share links for your CV.
Employer invitations
In the same list, below the sections, the switch Let employers invite me to apply controls whether an employer on Orbit whose role matches this CV can send you one email inviting you to apply. They never see your email address. This switch also covers screening and interview invitations from Orbit. Off means never.
Social media links
Each link in Social media can be shown or hidden on its own. In the builder, select Social media, open a link and turn off Visible on CV.
