Take a screening from an employer
Updated
screening, screening invitation, written interview, questions from recruiter, AI screening, OrbitA screening is a short written conversation an employer on Orbit sends you about a role. You answer questions about your experience, one at a time, in your own time. It doesn’t use your credits.
Open the invitation
In the email from the employer, select Start the screening or Open the screening. If you’re signed in to Virtual CV, you can also go to Interviews in the sidebar and select Start screening on the card marked AI screening.
Agree to begin
Read Before we start, then select I understand — let’s begin. To decline instead, select No, thanks.
Answer a question
Type your answer and select Send. The next question follows.
Finish
Keep answering until you see That’s everything — thank you. Your answers are then sent to the employer.
I need a break halfway
Just close the page. Your answers are saved as you go. Come back before the finish-by date from the same link, or from Interviews by selecting Resume screening. Don’t select Stop here unless you want to end the screening: it ends it for good, and your answers aren’t sent.
It says This screening link isn't valid any more
If the employer sent you a newer invitation, only the newest link works. Use the latest email. The link also stops working after the finish-by date in the email, or if the employer withdraws the screening.
Your answer was saved, but the next question did not come through
Your answer is safe. Select Next question to try again.
What to expect
- Questions are about your experience only: nothing personal, nothing hypothetical.
- It’s written, and the email says roughly how many minutes it takes.
- You can decline at the start, and nothing happens if you do.
- Your answers reach the employer as a written summary that quotes your own words.
- How you write is recorded (typing, pasting, time on the page), but never your clipboard or your screen.
- The conversation is deleted after 90 days. The summary is kept.
Finish by the date in the email
The invitation email says the date to finish by. After that, the page shows This screening has expired. If the employer withdraws it, you see This screening was withdrawn.
Remove your screening data
You can ask for your screening data to be removed at any time, from the same page. Select Remove my data, then Remove it. This deletes your answers and takes your name and email off the screening. The employer keeps only a short summary per part, without your words. We confirm by email.
If you don’t have an account
You can take a screening from the email link without signing up. If the employer also created a Virtual CV from your application, the email offers Claim my CV so you can make it yours.
To see screenings and interviews after you sign in, open Interviews in the sidebar.
