Verify a certification with Credly or Microsoft Learn

Updated

This is for showing recruiters that a certification on your CV is real. We check Credly badges and Microsoft Learn transcripts with the issuer. Checking a credential doesn’t use credits.

Open the CV in the builder

In the sidebar, select My Virtual CVs, then select Edit on the CV.

Open Awards

In the Sections list, select Awards. Certifications live in this section. If it isn’t there, add it with Add a section.

Open the certification

Open the award for your certification, or add a new one.

Check it

Select Verify. We check the credential with the issuer.

Use the issuer's details

If you see Use these details when the check finishes, select it to fill in the award from the issuer’s record.

Which link do I use for Microsoft Learn?

Use your transcript link, not a link to a single certification. Sign in to Microsoft Learn, open your profile, go to Transcript and select Share link. After you verify, choose the certification under Which certification is this?

It says Holder not confirmed

The credential is real, but it was issued to an email address that isn’t confirmed on your account. Select Confirm the email this badge was issued to, enter that address, then enter the 6-digit code we send to it.

It says Issuer not verified or Not found

Issuer not verified means we don’t verify that issuer yet, so the link is shown as you entered it. Not found means we couldn’t find the badge: check the link and make sure the badge is public on Credly.

What the statuses mean

  • Verified by Credly or Verified by Microsoft Learn: the issuer’s record exists and was issued to an email address confirmed on your account. Your public CV shows a Verified credential badge.
  • Verified, expired: the credential was real but has passed its expiry date.
  • Waiting for, followed by the provider: the provider didn’t respond. We try again automatically within a few hours.
  • Revoked: the issuer has revoked the credential.

Links from other sites can’t be checked automatically. They’re shown on your CV as you entered them.

Confirmed emails

The email addresses that prove a badge is yours are listed in Settings, then Confirmed emails. Select Add an email to confirm another address. We keep only a one-way fingerprint of each address, so the address itself isn’t shown there.

Limits

You can check a limited number of credentials per day, and keep a limited number of checked credentials. The message tells you when you can check again.

Remove a verification

Select Remove my verification on the award. Your CVs stop showing it as verified, but the link stays on the award.
