Privacy and recordings in practice interviews

who can see my practice, delete practice, delete recording, video retention, privacy, consent, OpenAI, DeepgramYour practice interviews are private. This explains what’s recorded, who processes it and how long it’s kept. It starts with how to delete a practice.
Open Practice
In the sidebar, select Interviews, then select Practice at the top of the page.
Open the practice
Select the practice you want to delete.
Delete it
Select Delete this practice.
Confirm
Select Delete. The recording, your answers and the report are deleted for good, with any retries of its questions. It can’t be undone, and the credits aren’t returned.
I don't see Delete this practice
It appears once the interview has ended. A practice you set up but never began is removed by itself after 7 days, and nothing was charged for it.
Who can see your practice
Only you. Your recordings, transcripts and reports are never shared with employers, recruiters or Orbit, and there’s no way to share them. They never affect your job matches or your trust score.
When you practise for one of your interviews, nothing is written on that interview, and the employer isn’t told. The practice link in your interview reminder only appears if you haven’t practised for that interview yet.
What’s recorded and analysed
- Your camera and microphone during the interview, or only your microphone if you practise with audio only. Nothing is recorded or kept during the camera and microphone check: only a short speed test is uploaded.
- We analyse what you said and how it was structured, plus timing (pace and pauses). We don’t analyse your face, expressions, eye contact, emotions or “confidence”.
You agree to this before every practice, under Before you practise. You can see each agreement under Settings, Privacy, in Consent history, as Practice interview recording.
Who processes it
- OpenAI: the questions and the feedback.
- Deepgram: speech to text.
- Amazon Web Services: the interviewer’s voice, and storage.
Know the company uses public information about the employer. We keep it to reuse for anyone who practises for that company, without recording who looked it up.
How long it’s kept
- Your recording: deleted automatically after 30 days. The report then says Video expired, and the transcript stays.
- A separate audio copy of each answer, used only to repair a transcript if live speech recognition failed: deleted once your report is ready, and within 7 days at the latest.
- The transcript and the report: until you delete the practice or close your account.
- A practice you set up but never began: 7 days.
To remove a recording, transcript or report sooner, delete the practice: they go together.
Your data
Your practices are part of Download my data: for each one, your choices, the role as you gave it, the questions as they were asked, your answers, the report, and any recording still within its 30 days. See Download a copy of your data.
Closing your Virtual CV account erases every practice, with its recordings and reports. See Close your Virtual CV account.
