Create your Virtual CV
Updated
new CV, import CV, upload resume, PDF, LinkedIn, start from scratch, wizardThis is for anyone setting up a Virtual CV for the first time, or adding another one. You’ll go through three steps (Record, Essentials and Go live) and finish with a CV you can edit in the builder.
Start a new CV
In the sidebar, select My Virtual CVs, then select the New Virtual CV tile.
Record or upload a short intro
On the Say hello in 60 seconds screen, press the record button to record with your camera, or select Upload a video to use a file you already have. If you don’t want a video yet, select Skip and continue and go to the next step.
Continue to the essentials
When you’re happy with your video, select Continue to essentials. To try again first, select Re-record.
Choose how to add your details
On Now, the essentials, choose one option:
- Upload PDF: we read an existing CV and fill in your details. Uses credits.
- Start from blank: build section by section yourself. No credits used.
- Interactive: answer questions one at a time and we build the CV from your answers. Uses credits.
The next steps are for Upload PDF. If you chose Start from blank, the builder opens straight away and you’re done here. If you chose Interactive, answer the questions, then select Open my CV.
Upload your existing CV
Drag your file into the box or click to browse. PDF, DOCX and TXT files up to 1 MB are accepted.
Process the file
Select Process CV.
Confirm the credits
Select Yes, process CV. Processing usually takes 30 to 60 seconds.
Continue to the last step
When you see CV Processed Successfully!, select Share.
Decide whether to go live
On the last step, turn on the Go live switch if you want anyone with the link to see your CV. Leave it off to keep the CV private while you work on it.
Keep editing
Select Keep editing in the builder to fine-tune your sections, template and settings.
Interactive is locked
Interactive needs a minimum credit balance before it starts. The option shows how many credits it needs and how many you have. Select Get credits to top up, or choose Upload PDF or Start from blank instead.
My file isn't accepted
Only PDF, DOCX and TXT files up to 1 MB can be processed. If your CV is larger, save it again as a smaller PDF (for example without images), or copy the text into a TXT file.
Processing failed or says Insufficient Credits
If you see Processing Failed, select Upload Different File and try again with another copy of your CV. If you see Insufficient Credits, select Add Credits to top up first.
Camera access blocked
Allow camera and microphone access for the site in your browser settings, then select Try again. You can also upload a video file or skip the video.
Importing from LinkedIn
There’s no direct LinkedIn import. If you have your CV as a PDF, DOCX or TXT file, use Upload PDF.
If you leave halfway
Your progress is saved in this browser. When you come back, you’re asked whether to Continue where you left off or Start Fresh.
What happens next
Your CV appears under My Virtual CVs. You can edit every section, so nothing you choose here is final. To learn what uses credits and what’s free, see Virtual CV plans and pricing.
