Choose a template and accent colour
Updated
design, layout, theme, colour, color, look, styleThis is for changing how your public Virtual CV looks. The template and colour apply to the page people see from your link.
Open the CV in the builder
In the sidebar, select My Virtual CVs, then select Edit on the CV.
Open Public settings
At the top of the builder, select Public settings.
Pick a template
Under Template, select Standard, Compact, Portfolio or Sidebar. The preview updates straight away.
Pick an accent colour
Under Accent palette, select Brand pink, Plum, Ink, Deep blue or Forest. Your choice saves automatically.
I don't see Public settings
On a phone the builder’s top bar is shorter: Public settings is the highlighted button under the CV name, and the other actions are under More actions (the three-dot button).
The four templates
- Standard: a conventional CV that recruiters and job boards read easily. The safe default.
- Compact: one screen that sells you, then the full CV underneath. Good for a link you send to a person. With Compact you can also pick the main skills shown on the cover.
- Portfolio: a grid of the work you choose, each piece opening to its full story. Good for studios, consultants and freelancers. Pick and order the pieces in Public settings.
- Sidebar: a standing column about you beside your work. Projects sit under the role they belong to.
Select Compare all four side by side to see them together.
If a section disappears
Not every template shows every section. If one doesn’t fit the template you chose, a note in Public settings tells you which sections won’t appear. They stay in your CV and in your PDF.
Your PDF doesn’t change
Whichever template you choose, the PDF download is the same: a single-column, plain layout that applicant tracking systems can read. If your CV has a video, the PDF includes a QR code that links back to your online CV.
Colours per template
Each template remembers its own accent colour. If you switch templates, the colour you last used with that template comes back. Accent colours only change headings, links and chips. Body text stays dark on white so the CV prints and reads cleanly.
