Turn marketing emails on or off
Updated
unsubscribe, stop emails, email preferences, marketing emails, newsletter, too many emailsThis is for anyone who wants to stop, or start, getting product news and tips by email from Virtual CV or Orbit. It takes one switch.
Open Your notifications
Select Settings in the sidebar, then Your notifications under You.
Switch marketing emails on or off
Turn the Marketing emails switch (Virtual CV) or the Product news and tips switch (Orbit) off to stop them, or on to get them. The change saves straight away.
It says it couldn't save
Your preference hasn’t changed. Wait a moment and switch it again.
Use the unsubscribe link instead
Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link. It opens a page that asks Stop marketing emails?. Select Unsubscribe me. Emails that were already queued can take a few hours to stop.
If the page says the link is invalid or has expired, sign in and use the switch in Your notifications, or select Go to notification settings on that page.
Emails that always send
Turning off marketing emails never stops the emails you need to use your account:
- Virtual CV: email verification, password and security changes, interview requests, job matches for CVs you’ve published, and billing receipts.
- Orbit: applications, invitations, and anything about your billing.
Account notifications on Virtual CV
Alerts for the whole account, such as billing alerts, are in Settings, Account notifications under Account. Turn on the ones you want and select Save. Essential notifications, like security and billing receipts, are always sent and aren’t listed there.
What we start with
When you sign up, marketing emails are off unless you tick Send me product news and tips by email. If you sign up with Google, they start off. Signing up again never undoes an unsubscribe. Accounts created before 5 October 2026 were subscribed by default, and keep that setting until you change it.
